Many people are becoming interested in the Law of Attraction and other similar New Age notions such as “we create our own reality”. These notions are truly part of Natural Law, a larger body of information that requires years of study to fully comprehend. Therefore much is lost in confusion and thrown to the wayside while trying to boil this information down into a bite-sized bundle. I’d like to clear things up for those whose minds have been swimming around this topic as they bounce from yoga class to yoga class, book to book, and workshop to workshop trying to wrap their minds around the Law of Attraction. The general ontology of the Law of Attraction can be made rather simple, but I implore everyone to do their own study of the large body of Natural Law so as to understand the Law of Attraction in its full context. For Now I’m going to break down the process on a smaller scale. First our belief systems control our thoughts and emotions which materialize into the physical world through our actions. Our Actions in turn enact universal laws which bring about a result. If we are mindful we can analyze this result which will either confirm or challenge our belief systems, and the process begins all over again.
Ultimately all universal laws function as a closed feedback loop with two components. On one hand we have the sacred feminine principle of uninhibited free will. The balancing factor is the sacred masculine principle of unwavering and immutable universal laws. So while we are free to act however we wish, our actions will always invoke universal laws which will govern the consequences. This isn’t some New Age mumbo-jumbo. Exoterically, it’s easily observable by the rational, scientific mind. If you choose to jump of a cliff, gravity will pull you down every time. Esoterically, this is understood a bit better by those living more spiritually developed lives. If you live a life that is harmful to yourself and others, you will find your life filled with more disease and chaos. If you live a life that spreads care and awareness through yourself and others, you will find your life filled with more health and harmony. This applies to not only yourself as an individual, but the species as a whole. But let’s continue to break down this process on an individual level so we can better understand how to co-create our own reality using the Law of Attraction.
The beginning of the Law of Attraction feedback loop is our belief systems. These systems are a result of cultural conditioning in our minds from the moment we are born. Physically, they comprise the most dense and well-formed neurological pathways in our brain. Think of them as information superhighways guiding our thoughts as they cruise across the landscape of our mind. So we respond to our surroundings by having thoughts that follow our general belief systems. We also have emotions relative to our current situation and belief systems. On the most immediate level, these thoughts and emotions affect our electromagnetic field (aura) and our physical body systems though our hormones. This is where many New Age philosophies get stuck. There is this general notion that by creating a certain personal condition within ourselves through the way we think and feel that the universe will respond and bring us what we want or need. We can just concentrate so hard on our intentions and positive thoughts that those things will magically manifest. This is a misconception. The truth is you can sit around and meditate on something all you want, you can have the healthiest chakras, the most positive affirmations, the best intentions, or what have you. Standing alone, those things are only the base of how you create your own reality through the Law of Attraction. The final Key, what most philosophies don’t touch on, is the actions you take. When you take an action through your free will, the Law of Attraction will govern the resulting reality that is returned (or attracted) to you.
Now of course if we do cleanse our physical, mental, and emotional bodies through practices like yoga, meditation, clean eating, positive affirmations, and other holistic modalities of self-care; we are more likely to be taking the right actions. We are more likely to experience an understanding of oneness, and help our fellow humans the way we would help ourselves. We are more likely to feel a deep sense of gratitude for even the smallest things in the world, and act with faith that we are living in a state of abundance. We are more likely to develop a deep mindfulness of ourselves and the state of our society, and take actions to heal them. We will have a higher level of consciousness, and take actions to uplift others. The Universal Law of Attraction transforms these actions into results that bring us more health, more abundance, more happiness, fellow human beings that will support us, and a higher state of harmony with Nature. Things like journaling, vision-boarding, meditating on your intentions: these are only the tip of the iceberg.
The loop closes and circles back around through the constant deliverance of results which cause us to take a new action. Those who have developed mindfulness will observe the result, and modify their actions accordingly. Those who have control over their egos will modify their actions even if it challenges their deepest belief systems, which is where the real magic occurs. By adopting a mindful practice like yoga, tai chi, qi gong, and meditation, one develops the ability to deeply observe the causes and results of their actions. They can see these causes and results both internally and externally. This informs, inspires, and empowers an individual to start responding to causal factors with better actions which in turn deliver better results. This is part of why these practices are so transformative. Not only are people physically strengthening their minds and bodies, but they are putting natural laws into action which help them co-create a happier, healthier life. To successfully employ the Law of Attraction in your life, develop a practice that will allow you to observe and break down the belief systems, thoughts, emotions, and actions that are creating your current situation. Then use that practice to begin to shift the pattern and thus bring about different results. It is a slow, steady, ongoing process that allows one to build consistent, sustainable results in their lives. Just remember the final key is action. Set all your intentions, do all the prep-work, and then act and watch the universe unfold around you.
