How does your yoga fit?
After coming to Moyo for over 5 years I know several of my fellow yogis from class. You have witnessed my weight loss and I thank you all for your compliments and support.
I have struggled with my weight for years and have been on quite a few programs that never really worked for me – until I started Weight Watchers in the fall of 2011. Yes- Weight Watchers was one of the previous mentioned failures but for some reason it clicked this time. Why??? I sincerely believe that yoga has made a huge difference in my outlook on life and more importantly, my outlook on myself.
This transformation started with the yoga retreat to Hawaii. I was surrounded by great new friends, beautiful scenery and yoga. I remember being on the flight home and thinking, “I think this has changed my life – I don’t know how and it probably won’t be immediate – but I will change”.
The 30 day challenge at Moyo was next in the spring of 2011. I did 30 yoga classes in 30 days and found it to be truly life changing. I had the time to really go deep in my practice. That’s when I started thinking about truly caring for myself. This body gave me the strength for 30 days – what can I do to care about it more??
The weight loss journey commenced and I found that my perspective of myself was totally different. I really didn’t care how my pants fit or what size I was – it was more – how does that yoga fit?? Have I eaten poorly and now my legs are shaking in Warrior 2? Or have I lost ten pounds and holy moly – look at that twist!!! I really didn’t even care how long it was taking – every time I hit my mat I knew that the process was worth it.
So there it is my friends – a transformation at post 50 years. We are never done growing or learning.
