Seasonally Aligned Trimesters

A BEAUTIFUL MIND/BODY CONNECTION
At MOYO, we recognize the complementary relationship between Ayurvedic medicine and Yoga; both being lifestyle practices with healing philosophies and applications.
Our programming reflects the elements of each Dosha throughout a Trimester, creating a comprehensive and enriching experience; whether through movement, breathwork, mantra, or dietary needs.
Our 4-month Trimesters were developed to align with the 3 Doshas of Ayurvedic Medicine: Vata, Kapha, and Pitta. Each Dosha prevails at a certain time of year, and each dosha is indicative of specific physical and mental attributes that influence overall well-being. Hence, Doshas have a very individual and personal relationship with people, but can dominate during a season as well.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient medical tradition from India. The term is derived from the Sanskrit ayur, meaning "life" or "longevity," and veda, meaning "knowledge" or "science."
The concept of Ayurveda is based on two major principles. The first principle is that the body and mind are interconnected, and the second principle is that the mind is powerful enough to heal the body. The body is cured of illnesses only when one's awareness of the self expands.

DOSHAS IN DETAIL:
Kapha (January to April Trimester)
Kapha is associated with Earth and Water elements. Physically expressed, Kapha hydrates cellular systems, lubricates joints and soft tissue, moisturizes skin and supports immunity. Emotionally, Kapha is beaming with love and compassion.
If Kapha is out of balance, emotions of love are overshadowed by feelings of over-attachment and selfishness, setting up an environment that promotes lethargy and resistance. The physical body functions and a slower speed as well, inviting stagnation and constipation.
Pitta (May to August Trimester)
Pitta is associated with the Fire and Water elements. Pitta represents transformation, making this dosha neither mobile nor stable. There is a proliferation of its qualities, which include: Intellect, empathy, and metabolism.
If Pitta is out of balance, expect emotional impulsivity, frustration, and anger. Physically, the body could experience inflammation.
Vata (September to December Trimester)
Vata is associated with the Air element. Vata aligns with imagination and movement. Movement is expressed in all aspects of our physicality: Breath, heart beats, muscular movements, blood flow, and the overall synthesis of bodily systems.
If Vata is out of balance, emotional feelings of fear, anxiety, and exhaustion arise.

OFF YOUR MAT: A BALANCED AND MINDFUL LIFE
For many practicing yogis, the mat is a sacred space for self-discovery from which you can unite the body, mind, and spirit. In yoga practice, you use discernment to move slowly and deliberately into a pose that meets you where you are in that moment. In life, you use discernment to make choices and take action after carefully considering the consequences.
Flower & Bone Supply understands these choices can be daunting and challenging, so we are here to serve the community as a resource in living a mindful and balanced life through the workshops and carefully curated retail products.
