The United Nations declared the 21st of June ‘International Yoga Day’. It is a day to recognize the ancient Indian science’s “holistic approach to health and well-being.”
June 21st has special significance in many parts of the world. It celebrates the Summer Solstice which is the longest day of the year. The logo for the day symbolizes the sun with a yogi folding both hands, in union. The essence of yoga is to “yoke” or come together; harmony and peace for humanity. In celebration of international yoga day, make the effort to step away from your busy schedules and focus on the strength and well being of YOU!
My idea is to go beyond our yoga studios and connect with the yoga community through images! Let’s show the world how powerful the practice of yoga can be. Take a picture of yourself “live on location” in your favorite yoga pose in a place that inspires you. It can be on a mountain top, at the beach, in a forest, or in your personal meditation space that you’ve created. The possibilities are endless. All I ask is to be creative and have fun with it!
