“This magical, marvelous food on our plate, this sustenance we absorb, has a story to tell. It has a journey. It leaves a footprint. It leaves a legacy. To eat with reckless abandon, without conscience, without knowledge; folks, this ain’t normal.” – Joel Salatin
Yoga and food are universal. Like art and music they liberate the soul and bring communities, religions and cultures together. I’m sure if you’re reading this blog or you practice yoga you are following a path towards awareness and self-evolution. In order to look beyond our imperfections and live a balanced life, we need a healthy physical body. Food is the essence of life and eating the right foods, sustains that life.
As we approach mid-June, we reflect on the warm weather and the bountiful produce that’s made available to us. I have to admit, I’m ready for the spring rain to wash away and the switch to summer to happen. When it does, it’s time to CELEBRATE! Yoga means to “yoke” or to come together. What better way to come together than over a delicious meal? When you or someone cooks from the heart, it’s unforgettable. Perhaps you can still remember the taste or the aroma that overwhelmed your senses; maybe you even made sounds as you took that first bite, did you close your eyes too as you smiled with your lips and your stomach? Like yoga, food can rekindle the soul.
MOYO has been hosting their Food, Farm & Yoga event for 4 years and this year, my husband and I are honored to be a part of it! From the images I’ve seen and what I’ve heard, it sounds like a true “Eat, Pray, Love” experience. The evening will focus on the importance of the present moment, eating and interacting with mindfulness. As our lives speed up so does everything around us and we easily forget how to relax and find solitude in just being.

Her yoga journey started as a means to escape herself, her past and find her way: the letdowns you can’t predict, opportunities that end up being too good to be true, and moments when you feel like you will never survive another day. Wildly in love, married to her middle school sweetheart, she now knows that everything in life happens for a reason and you are exactly where you are supposed to be in the present moment. Sharing her passion of yoga, wellness, adventure, and personal style, her mission is to inspire and guide people through her own personal journey and experiences.
